The CCCC Planning Committee organizes the WPA-GO social at CCCC, and it also helps the GO plan other events at the conference.

Katie Beth Brooks is a PhD Candidate at Virginia Tech. She is the Assistant to the Director of Composition and has taught First-Year Writing at Virginia Tech since 2015. Her dissertation examines the perpetuation of literacy practices and stereotypes within the Central Appalachian Coalfields and how high school English teachers negotiate those practices and stereotypes in their classrooms. Her research interests include cultural rhetorics (particularly those in Appalachia), composition, identity studies, social change, critical pedagogy, feminism, and pop culture. This is her first year as a member of WPA-Go.
